With a season that starts April 1st, Cod fishing makes for a refreshing early spring outing after a long winter. We target Cod and other ground fish including Pollack, Haddock and wolf fish in this early season while the fish are still in relatively shallow water. These ground fish are fun to catch as they are plentiful and make for a great species to use in a combo trip with Tuna Striped Bass or Shark..  On the Ocean Runner we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure you have an exciting trip and hook as many fish as possible Stellwagen Bank in Massachusetts South Shore , has proved consistently successful over the years. For the past few years our boat have averaged almost 1,000 lbs. of Cod, Pollock, Haddock, Halibut, on a six man trip. As exciting as they are to catch, Cod and ground fish are a delicious fish to eat. These fish keep well and in one trip you can catch enough to stock your freezer. We’ll supply bait, jigs, and rods, but you’re welcome to bring along your favorite equipment.

The best time for cod is March, April, May, June, July, August, September and October. Last year's best total poundage of Cod was during March, April and May. Action remained consistent in June thru November and was excellent in all of fall for those who wanted to fill their freezers for the winter. Cod trips typically catch a variety of excellent eating white-meat fish which could include: Cod, Pollack, Halibut, Wolffish, Monkfish, Haddock and other fish.
